There have been numerous "raids" ( razia ) by the Satpol PP (Public Order Agency) on venues playing Heboh music after midnight. Yet, the genre persists because of a cultural loophole: "That's not a nightclub; that's a wedding reception."

In June 2023, a video from a wedding in Gowa Regency went viral nationally. A Heboh singer, while performing the track “Ole-Ole” (a Makassar folk adaptation), received over IDR 8 million in sawer money within 10 minutes. The groom, a local politician, joined the dance.
