Rosende provided much-needed levity. As the mundane best friend turned accidental vampire (mid-season), his performance balanced horror and humor. His unrequited love for Clary gave the love triangle real emotional stakes.

The story follows Clary Fray, a seemingly normal eighteen-year-old whose life is upended when her mother is kidnapped by a group called the Circle. Clary quickly discovers she comes from a long line of Shadowhunters—human-angel hybrids who hunt demons. Thrown into a hidden world of Downworlders, including vampires, werewolves, and warlocks, Clary must embrace her heritage to save her mother and stop the villainous Valentine Morgenstern from acquiring the Mortal Cup.
