In Western democracies, the machine has eroded the concept of a shared reality. Citizens no longer inhabit the same informational space. Two people can log onto the same platform and see two completely different worlds. One sees a nation under siege by tyranny; the other sees a nation liberated by heroes. Neither sees the middle ground, because the middle ground does not generate clicks.
